This 3 disk set covers three of the most popular circular tours on the Inland Waterways. We recommend two weeks for each of them. Disk 1 Cheshire Ring The programme takes you through some of the most exciting and varied landscapes on the canal map, from the Derbyshire Peak District to the Cheshire Plain, and right into the heart of Britain’s largest northern city. Disk 2 The Four Counties Ring slices through the West Midlands, Shropshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire. There’s huge variety on this route, from one of the earliest canals to almost the last one to be built. There are lonely rural stretches, and stretches that are like passing through an industrial museum, little changed since the canal was built. Disk 3 The Warwickshire Ring is the longest in the set, and is best enjoyed over 3 weeks. This one includes the modernised wide beam section of the Grand Union, a passage through the hub of the 19th century transport system in Birmingham, and pleasant Warwickshire countryside across what used to be the Warwickshire coal field.
