This 2 disk set covers the River Great Ouse and River Cam, and the linking Middle Level Navigations. Disk 1 The Great Ouse and River Cam covers that vast linked system of navigable rivers comprising the Great Ouse and it’s tributaries, The Cam, The Lark, The Little Ouse and the River Wissey. The Great Ouse river system is one of the oldest navigable waterways in Britain. Passing through remote East Anglian countryside, it provides a unique habitat for wildlife, with many species not found elsewhere in the British Isles. The programme includes a punt along the backrivers through Cambridge’s famous college grounds. Disk 2 The Middle Level covers that unusual and complex set of navigable rivers and drains running across the Fens from Peterborough to Downham Market, linking the River Nene to the River Great Ouse. As well as the recommended link route, the programme explores some of the many less well known waterways on the Fens, including Vermuyden’s Drain, and the lowest point in Britain, Holme Moss.
